What if I made a mistake while sending money?

Noticed an error after sending? Here's what we can do to help and what to expect.

Before reading on: if you sent money to someone you now believe was a scammer, skip to the scam section below.

I sent to the wrong phone number or account

The transfer hasn't been delivered yet

Get in touch with us through the app straight away, speed is everything here. In most cases we are not able to cancel a transfer once it's been sent, but there are occasional exceptions. We'll check what's possible and let you know immediately.

The transfer has already been delivered

Depending on our local partner, we may be able to attempt a recall on your behalf. This is not always possible, and even when it is, it depends on the recipient's willingness to return the funds. We cannot guarantee it will succeed. You can also contact the recipient directly to arrange for a solution.

I sent to the right person but entered the wrong name

For mobile money transfers, an incorrect name may or may not affect delivery. It depends on the local partner: some require the name to match exactly. If the transfer fails, we will return your money to you.

For bank transfers, name requirements vary by local partner. If the transfer fails due to a name mismatch, your money will be returned to you automatically.

In both cases, if the funds have been delivered, a refund may take time and is not guaranteed. You may also prefer to contact the recipient directly to arrange for a solution.

I sent a cash pickup with wrong details

Check the app first: in some cases you can edit the transfer directly. If you cannot, get in touch with us straight away. See our dedicated article for more information: How do I edit a Cash pickup transfer?

I entered the wrong amount

Once a transfer is confirmed, we cannot change the amount. Contact us through the app to check whether a reversal is possible. The best option is to contact your recipient directly.

I think I was scammed

If you sent money to someone you now believe was a scammer, for example through a fake job offer, romance, or investment opportunity please act immediately:

  1. 1Contact us through the app right away. We will do everything we can to try to recall the funds.
  2. 2Report it to your local police, or to your national fraud authority. Keep all messages, names, and transfer details as evidence. See the table in our How do I protect myself from scams? article for country-specific links.

We want to be upfront with you: recovering money sent to scammers is very difficult. Scammers typically cash out funds immediately, which means a recall rarely succeeds. We will always do everything we can, but we can't guarantee a refund.
