What is the Taptap Send Wallet?
- 🇦🇪 UAE: It's a simple AED balance you can use to send, receive, and withdraw money. See Taptap Send is now licensed by the Central Bank of the UAE for details on the AED Wallet.
- 🇺🇸 US: Taptap Send offers two wallet types, Lite and Full. See What wallet types are available in the United States? for the difference.
The Taptap Send Wallet gives you the ability to convert now and send later, locking in great rates even if you don't need to send today. The wallet also allows you to build up your funds until you need to send a big transfer.
...What is the Taptap Send Wallet for?
You can use it to decide when to lock in a rate or put money aside before you need to send.
For example, if you need to send money at the end of the month, and believe today's rate is great, you can convert and know you have the rate locked in, without worrying. Or if you want to set the money aside so you don't spend it, you can load your wallet now and send it when you need to.
The wallet lets you decide when you want to convert, how you want to budget, and when you want to send.
How do I create a Taptap Send Wallet?
It's very simple! If the wallet is an option for you in your country and in the currency you send money to, you'll see the option displayed on the main home screen of the app.
At this time, this feature is only available for some currencies and countries. More currencies are being added all the time, so check the app or contact us to find out if your currency has been enabled. We'll be releasing it to more users and more currencies very soon.
Please note that it may take a few hours for your wallet to be fully ready once you've loaded it with credit. Once your wallet is created, it will be visible directly from the home screen.
Who can have a Taptap Send Wallet?
- Only users who have a verified account (submitted ID + selfie) can have a wallet
- Users who have already sent money in the currency available
Use your Taptap Send Wallet as a payment method
When your wallet is loaded with funds, you can decide to send transactions with these funds at your earliest convenience. You may also choose to send with a different payment method, depending on what's available in your country.
If your wallet doesn't hold enough funds to pay for the transaction, the option will be greyed out. You can decide to load your wallet with more funds if you wish.
Please follow these detailed step-by-step instructions to complete your transfer:
- 1Open the app.
- 2Initiate a transfer by selecting the amount.
- 3Press Next and enter the details of the recipient.
- 4On the next screen, choose your wallet as payment method.
- 5Once selected, tap Pay with my wallet to complete the transaction.

How do I request a refund?
You can withdraw the funds you have available in your wallet at any time. You can choose to withdraw the total amount available or only part of it — it's entirely up to you. Bonus credits added to your wallet are not refundable.
To withdraw money from your Taptap Send Wallet:
- 1On the home screen, tap the wallet you want to withdraw from.
- 2Tap Manage.
- 3Scroll down and tap Withdraw from wallet.
- 4Enter the amount you want to withdraw.
- 5Enter your bank details and tap Continue.
Please note: we can only send withdrawals to a bank account in your name.
What happens if the rate changes?
The value of your money remains the same in the wallet currency, keeping the rate at which you initially loaded it locked in. There are no fluctuations or changes in its worth in the wallet currency. If you decide not to send the money in your wallet, you can withdraw it in your original currency, but it's converted at the rate at the time you withdraw. So if you load your wallet, the rate changes, and you try to withdraw it back to your bank account, you may not get back the same amount that you originally loaded.
Taptap Send Wallet and sending limits
Please note that the amount loaded to your wallet will count towards the calculation of your internal Taptap Send limits. See the article What are my sending limits on Taptap Send? for more details.
The amount sent via your wallet does not count towards some of these limits — only the load of funds as described above is taken into account.
