How do I send money from Brazil?

Send money internationally from Brazil using the Taptap Send app. Here is everything you need to know before making your first transfer.

What do I need to open an account?

Signing up is a simple, safe, and secure process that complies with local regulations and requirements.

To open an account, you need to be a resident of Brazil with an active Brazilian mobile phone number.

Before your first transfer, you'll need to:

  • Upload a government-issued ID (we accept Brazilian National ID, Brazilian passport, residence permit, driver's licence, or work permit)
  • Take a selfie
  • Provide your CPF number (Brazilian tax identification number)

You won't be able to send money until your identity and CPF have been successfully verified.

How can I send money?

You can pay using PIX, Brazil's instant bank transfer system. It's currently the only payment method available in Brazil.

Here's how it works:

  1. 1We generate a PIX payment code for your transfer.
  2. 2Copy and paste this code into your bank's app to complete the payment.
  3. 3Complete the payment within 15 minutes.

If the payment isn't completed in time, the transfer will expire and no money will be taken from your account.

How much does it cost to send money?

Fees depend on which country you're sending to. For some destinations, a transfer fee applies, you'll see the exact amount before you confirm. For others, there's no transfer fee, but we make a small margin on the exchange rate.

Either way, the full cost is shown upfront in the app. Check your destination's sending guide for the specifics.

How do I verify my account?

To send your first transfer, you'll need to verify your identity and CPF number in the app. You'll be asked to upload a government-issued ID and take a selfie.

What are my sending limits?

Your sending limits depend on your verification level. The standard limits are:

  • Per transfer: BRL 13,000

For transfers to mobile money wallets, limits are set by the receiving provider and depend on the type of wallet your recipient holds.

Fixed sending limits also apply. You can read more in our dedicated article: What are my sending limits on Taptap Send?
