How do I send money from Bahrain?
Send money internationally from Bahrain using the Taptap Send app. Here is everything you need to know before making your first transfer.
What do I need to open an account?
Signing up is simple, safe, and secure. You'll need a Bahraini digital ID to get started. Taptap Send uses eKEY 2.0, Bahrain's national digital identity system, as the only sign-up and login method. Make sure you have the eKEY 2.0 app installed and set up on your device before registering.
Before your first transfer, you'll be asked to confirm your relationship to the recipient and the purpose of your transfer. We ask this on every transaction.
How can I send money?
We accept Bahraini debit cards via BENEFIT, Bahrain's local payment network. When you confirm your transfer, you'll be redirected to complete the payment securely through BENEFIT.
| Accepted | Not accepted |
|---|---|
| Bahraini debit cards (via BENEFIT) | Internationally issued cards |
| Credit cards |
How much does it cost to send money?
Fees depend on which country you're sending to. For some destinations, a transfer fee applies, you'll see the exact amount before you confirm. For others, there's no transfer fee, but we make a small margin on the exchange rate.
Either way, the full cost is shown upfront in the app. Check your destination's sending guide for the specifics.
How do I verify my account?
Verification happens automatically through eKEY 2.0 before your first transfer. You'll be prompted to complete a quick selfie via the eKEY 2.0 screen in the app. There is no need to upload ID documents separately.
What are my sending limits?
Your sending limits depend on your verification level. The standard limits are:
- Per transfer: BHD 3,700
For transfers to mobile money wallets, limits are set by the receiving provider and depend on the type of wallet your recipient holds.
Fixed sending limits also apply. You can read more in our dedicated article: What are my sending limits on Taptap Send?
