For your recipient
Does my recipient need to do anything?
For MTN Mobile Money, your recipient just needs an active account registered to the phone number you're sending to.
For Airtel Money, they also need their TPIN (Taxpayer Identification Number) linked to their account before the transfer can go through. To link a TPIN, they can dial *778# or visit an Airtel service centre.
What details does my recipient need to provide?
Their MTN or Airtel Money phone number.
How does my recipient cash out?
Funds arrive directly in their mobile money wallet. They can withdraw cash at any MTN or Airtel Money agent. Note that your recipient will not receive an SMS notification when the money arrives, so they should check their wallet directly in the app or by dialling their balance code.
