Can I cancel my transfer or get a refund?

If your transfer has already been delivered, recalling the funds can be difficult and take time. It is sometimes easier to resolve this directly with the recipient. Contact our support team through the app and we will look into what options are available. You can also refer to our global article Can I cancel or get a refund for my transfer?

For your recipient

Does my recipient need to do anything?

First-time recipients: Yes. To comply with Korean regulations, your recipient must complete a short verification process the first time they receive money via Taptap Send. Once you send the transfer, they will receive a message via KakaoTalk, or by SMS if they are not on KakaoTalk, with a link to complete the process. They must complete this within 72 hours. If they do not, the transfer is automatically cancelled and refunded to you.

The verification is also required if your recipient is using a different bank account from the one they previously registered.

Verification is not required for transfers for goods or services. Your recipient just needs to make sure the purpose code is set to "Payments for goods or services" when you send.

Returning recipients: No action needed, as long as they are receiving money into the same bank account they registered before.

What details does my recipient need to provide?

For a bank transfer, you will need your recipient's full name, bank name, account number, and a valid South Korean mobile phone number.

The phone number is required to send a verification message to your recipient. It must be entered without spaces or special characters, starting with 10 or 010 followed by 8 digits (for example: 01012345678).

How does my recipient cash out?

Funds are deposited directly into your recipient's bank account once the verification process is complete. No further action is needed on their end.
