Cancelling a transfer or requesting a refund

If your transfer has already been delivered, recalling the funds can be difficult and take time. It is sometimes easier for you to resolve this directly with the recipient who received your funds. Contact our support team through the app and we will look into what options are available for your transfer. If no options exist, we will let you know.

You can also refer to our global article Can I cancel or get a refund for my transfer?

What if my transfer needs to be recalled?

If you ask us to recall the funds sent to a Nigerian bank account, the local bank will temporarily freeze the recipient bank account while the funds are being reversed. This is called placing a "lien" on the account, it is required under Nigerian banking regulations, and is not something Taptap Send can override directly. The freeze is automatically lifted after two weeks if the funds have not been recovered by then.

If you change your mind and no longer want the reversal, please contact our support team through the app as soon as possible: we can ask our Nigerian partner to lift the lien and let your recipient access their funds again.

For your recipient

Does my recipient need to do anything?

No. The money goes directly to your recipient's bank account. They do not need to take any action to receive it.

What details does my recipient need to share?

To send money to Nigeria, you will need your recipient's 10-digit NUBAN account number and the name of their bank. Make sure the account details are correct before you confirm, as transfers go directly to the account number you provide.
