For your recipient

Does my recipient need to do anything?

Bank transfer (GTQ / USD): No action needed. Funds are deposited directly into your recipient's bank account.

Cash pickup (Banrural / Banco Industrial): Your recipient will receive a reference code by SMS once the transfer is sent. They need to visit a branch to collect. First-time Banrural recipients must complete an additional registration step (see below).

What details does my recipient need to provide?

Bank transfer: full name, bank name, and account number.

Cash pickup (all partners): Your recipient will need to present:

  • The transaction reference number (received from you or by SMS)
  • Their DPI (Guatemalan national ID) or passport
  • The sender's name (your name as entered in the app)

The name and details must match the transaction exactly. Make sure to enter your recipient's name exactly as it appears on their ID when sending.

How does my recipient cash out?

Here is what your recipient may need to do depending on how you sent the money.

Bank transfer

Funds are deposited directly into your recipient's bank account. No action needed.

Cash pickup (Banrural)

Your recipient visits any Banrural branch and asks for the CAJA RURAL service. They need to present their DPI or passport, the transaction reference number, and confirm the sender's name.

First-time recipients: before collecting for the first time, your recipient must complete a KYC registration form ("Ficha ó Boleta de Vinculación") at a Banrural branch to obtain their internal customer number (MIS). This only needs to be done once.

Cash pickup (Banco Industrial)

Your recipient visits any Banco Industrial branch and presents their DPI or passport, the transaction reference number, and confirms the sender's name.

Note: if your recipient has not received a reference code by SMS, they should check their messages or ask you to share the code directly from the Taptap Send app (tap the transfer in your Activity tab and select Share Code).
