What is a virtual IBAN and how does it work?
Think of virtual account details as your own personal bank account, but inside the Taptap Send app. You get an account number, a sort code, and an IBAN, just like with a regular bank account. You can share these details with anyone who needs to send money to you, such as your employer, a friend, or a family member. The money lands straight in your Taptap Send wallet.
Who can get virtual account details?
Virtual account details are currently available to a select number of customers in the UK. If you have access, you will be able to see your account details in the app.
How do I find or activate my virtual account details?
If you are a Taptap Send cardholder, you already have virtual account details. Tap on your GBP wallet on the home screen. You will land on a page showing your balance. Below the balance, you will see a bank icon with your account number and sort code next to it. Tap on that row to open the Receive page, where all your account details are shown. You can also use the Share details button to send the details to someone directly.
If you do not have a card but you do have a GBP wallet, the steps are the same. Tap on your GBP wallet, then tap on the account details row to see your full details.
Can I receive my salary or benefits using these details?
Yes. You can share your virtual account details with your employer or benefits provider, and receive your salary or benefits directly into your Taptap Send wallet. This works the same way as receiving any other bank transfer, just share your account number and sort code with them. Please check with your employer or provider that they support incoming transfers to third-party accounts.
How do I get a proof of account letter?
If you need to prove your account details, for example to share with your employer, you can download a proof of account letter directly from the app:
- 1Tap on your GBP wallet on the home screen
- 2Tap Manage
- 3Tap Proof of account details
Why does the bank name say "ClearBank"?
No need to worry, this is completely normal. ClearBank is our official partner bank and they provide your virtual account details. Your account is provided by ClearBank Limited, authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority.
How long does it take for funds to arrive?
Transfer times depend on how the money is being sent. In most cases, transfers arrive quickly, often within a few hours. Some transfers may take up to one business day. If funds have not arrived after one business day, contact us through the app and we will look into it for you.
Can I turn off the Confirmation of Payee check?
Yes, you can. Contact us via the app and let us know you would like to turn it off. Our team will sort it for you.
Payments will still go through as normal after that. The matching check just will not apply anymore.
