Why is my transfer in-progress?
If your transfer is showing as in-progress, it means we've received your request and the money is on its way. It just hasn't been delivered to your recipient yet. Most transfers are completed within minutes to a few hours. Your money is always safe. If a transfer cannot be completed, your funds will be returned to you automatically.
What does "in-progress" mean?
When a transfer is in-progress, it's moving through one or more of these stages:
- 1We're processing your transfer: we check every transfer to keep your money safe. Most pass in seconds; some take a little longer.
- 2We've sent the money to our local partner: your transfer is on its way to the payment network in the destination country.
- 3Your recipient's bank or wallet is processing it: the final step before the money appears in your recipient's account.
Check your expected delivery time in the app
When you confirm a transfer, we show you an estimated delivery date, called Date Available in the app, based on your destination country and the type of your transfer (e.g. mobile money, bank transfer or cash pickup). This already accounts for known factors like local bank hours and scheduled maintenance. If your transfer is taking longer than this estimate, that's when to take action.
Common reasons a transfer stays in-progress longer
1. Security review
Some transfers are reviewed by our team or our local partner, particularly larger amounts. This can add a few hours to the processing time. We'll contact you if we need anything from you.
2. Bank holidays and weekends
Most banks are closed during weekends and public holidays in the destination country. Your transfer will be processed as soon as they reopen. During religious celebrations, bank opening hours in several of our destination countries are reduced, which can add extra time.
3. Technical issues
Occasionally, our local partner or your recipient's bank or wallet provider may be experiencing a technical issue. When this happens, your transfer will be queued and processed as soon as the network is back up.
4. Recipient registration or verification
In some cases, your recipient may need to complete a verification or registration step with their provider before the funds can be credited to their account. If this is required, they should receive a notification from their provider directly.
