What happens to my transfer after I send it?

When you send money with Taptap Send, your transfer goes through a few steps before it reaches your recipient. Your money is always safe. If a transfer cannot be completed at any stage, you'll be notified in the app and your funds will be returned to you automatically.

Here's what happens at each stage

Stage 1: You confirm the transfer

Once you've entered the amount, chosen your recipient, and confirmed the transfer, we receive your request immediately. You'll see the transfer appear in your app.

Stage 2: Your bank authorises the payment

We ask your bank to authorise the payment. In most cases, no funds are taken from your account at this stage. In some cases, your bank may place a temporary hold on the amount. If the authorisation is declined or the transfer cannot proceed, any hold will be released by your bank. If you used a different payment method, the funds may be immediately captured, but if the transfer cannot be delivered, we will send the funds back to you.

Stage 3: We check your transfer

Once your bank has authorised the payment, we carry out our own checks before sending the money. This protects you, your recipient, and helps us comply with financial regulations. Most transfers pass this step in seconds. Some take a little longer, we'll let you know if we need anything from you.

Stage 4: We send the money

Once all checks are complete, we send the funds to our local partner in the destination country. Your transfer status updates to Processing. At this point, the money is on its way to your recipient. Your funds are safe.

Stage 5: Your recipient receives the money

Our local partner delivers the funds to your recipient via their bank account, mobile wallet, or cash pickup location. Once this is done, the status updates to Delivered.

Note: For bank transfers, it's common for the status to show Delivered while the funds are still being processed by the recipient's bank. Allow up to 2 additional business days for the money to be fully reflected in your recipient's account.
