How does 'Pay bills' work?
Pay bills lets you pay for airtime, electricity or water bills, utilities and more, directly in the Taptap Send app. Here is everything you need to know.
Where is Pay bills available?
Pay bills is available in select countries. To check if Pay bills is available in your recipient's country, open the app, start a transfer, and select the country from the dropdown menu. You will see the Pay bills option if it is available there.
How do I use Pay bills?
- 1Open the app and select your recipient's country from the dropdown.
- 2Tap Pay bills in [country] (for example, Pay bills in Senegal).
- 3Tap View services to see the types of bills available.
- 4Choose a bill type, for example Airtime & Data.
- 5Enter the recipient details and the amount.
- 6Review the details and confirm the payment.
What can I pay for?
The types of bills available depend on the country. These can include:
- Airtime and data top-ups
- Electricity bills
- Water bills
- Satellite TV subscriptions
- School fees
- Gas bills
How much does it cost?
There are no hidden charges. The rate for bill payments may differ from the exchange rate shown for standard transfers. You can always review the cost before confirming a payment.
Can I cancel a bill payment?
Bill payments cannot be cancelled once confirmed. Always double-check the recipient details and amount before you confirm.
What if I made a mistake?
With Airtime and data, if you sent the wrong bundle or sent to the wrong recipient, note that we will not be able to refund this. We have made sure to alert you via the app so you can always double check and adjust before paying.
It is important to know that for certain bundles, the one you pay for may override what your recipient already uses. If this happens, your recipient can get in touch with their Provider directly so they can review and assist.
