How do recipients receive their money?
The way your recipient receives their money depends on the delivery method available in their country. Here is how each one works.
📱 Mobile money
The funds go directly to your recipient's mobile money wallet. In most cases, they don't need to do anything. The money arrives automatically once the transfer is processed. If your recipient needs to take any action, we will share the details in the transfer details screen.
Some providers require recipients to verify their identity before they can receive funds or increase their wallet limits. If your recipient hasn't done this yet, they may need to complete a quick verification step with their provider first.
Always double-check the mobile money number when setting up your recipient. If the number is wrong, the transfer may go to the wrong person or fail.
🏦 Bank transfer
The funds are sent directly to your recipient's bank account. They don't need to do anything. Delivery times depend on the country and your recipient's bank.
Always double-check the bank account number when setting up your recipient. If the number is wrong, the transfer may go to the wrong person or fail. Refunds are very hard to get for bank transfers.
🏪 Cash or Bank pickup
Your recipient will need to visit a partner agency (or bank) to collect the money in person. They should bring:
- A valid government-issued ID
- Their pick up code, received via WhatsApp or SMS (also available in the app if you want to share it directly)
🏠 Home delivery
A courier will bring the cash to the address you provided. Your recipient needs to be available at that address and have ready:
- A valid government-issued ID
- Their PIN code
Make sure the delivery address is correct before you send the transfer.
💳 Pay to card
The funds go directly to your recipient's debit card. They don't need to do anything. Delivery typically takes between 30 minutes and 48 hours, and is only available in selected countries.
Always double-check the card number and expiry date when setting up your recipient. If the details are wrong, the transfer may go to the wrong person or fail.
