How do I complete a transaction with Bancontact?

Bancontact is a payment method available to customers sending money from Belgium.

How does Bancontact work?

Bancontact works similarly to a debit card, with one key difference: you'll need to complete 3D Secure (3DS) authentication both when you add your card and on every transfer you make afterwards. You won't need to enter a CVV.

To complete the 3DS step, you'll need either the Payconiq by Bancontact app or your own bank's app installed on your device.

Which banks work with Bancontact?

You can use Bancontact if you hold a card from one of the following banks:

Argenta, Bank J. Van Breda, Belfius, Beobank, BNP Paribas Fortis, CBC Bank, CPH Bank, Crelan, Deutsche Bank, Fintro, Hello Bank!, ING België, KBC Bank, KBC Brussels, Keytrade Bank, Nagelmackers, and vdk bank.

How do I add Bancontact as a new customer?

  1. 1Select Bancontact as your payment method. A card entry screen will appear (no CVV needed).
  2. 2Complete 3DS authentication to add your card.
  3. 3On every transfer after this, you'll be asked to complete 3DS again.

How do I add Bancontact as an existing customer?

You can add Bancontact in one of two ways:

  • On the transfer summary screen, edit your payment details and select Bancontact.
  • In the payment methods section of your account, edit your payment method and choose Bancontact.

What if I have several Bancontact methods set up?

If you have more than one Bancontact method configured, you'll need to set your preferred one directly in the Payconiq app or your bank's app. This isn't something we can change on our end.

What if I'm having trouble with Bancontact?

Make sure you have either the Payconiq by Bancontact app or your bank's own app installed on your device, as this is required to complete the 3DS step.
