How do I verify my identity on Taptap Send?

We're required by law to verify the identity of our customers. This is standard across all financial services, it protects you and helps us prevent fraud and money laundering. Most verifications are completed in a few minutes.

The documents we accept depend on where you're based:

Tips for getting it right first time

Getting your submission accepted straight away avoids delays. Use the original document. We can't accept:

  • A photo of your ID on a screen
  • A black and white copy or photocopy
  • A screenshot
  • A cropped image: all four corners must be visible

Use good lighting and keep it in focus. Blurry or dark images will be rejected automatically. Make sure your document is not expired. Expired documents are not accepted.

Why might my verification be rejected?

Common rejection reasons:

  • Image is blurry or out of focus
  • Part of the document is cut off
  • The document is a photocopy, screenshot, or black and white copy
  • The document has expired
  • The name or date of birth doesn't match your account details

If your submission is rejected, you'll see the reason in the app. You can try again straight away with a clearer photo.

How long does the review take?

Most verifications complete in a few minutes. Some require a manual review and can take a few hours to be finalised. We'll notify you as soon as it's done.

Will I ever need to verify again?

We may ask you to re-verify if your document expires, if you update your personal details, or if we need to carry out an additional check required by financial regulations. We'll always let you know if that's the case.
