Why am I being asked to verify my card payment?
When you add a card or make a payment on Taptap Send, your bank may ask you to verify the transaction. This is called 3D Secure (3DS), a security step required by your bank to confirm it's really you making the payment.
How does verification work?
Your bank will ask you to approve the payment in one of these ways:
- A push notification on your banking app: open your bank's app and approve the payment from your notifications. This is the most common method.
- A one-time code by SMS: enter the code sent to your registered mobile number.
No notification? Open your banking app and check for a pending approval, it may be waiting even if you didn't receive a push or SMS.
What to do if verification isn't working
- 1Check your banking app: look for a notification or pending approval request.
- 2Check your SMS: make sure your phone number registered with your bank is correct and able to receive texts.
- 3Try again: go back to Taptap Send and retry the payment. Each attempt generates a new verification request.
- 4Contact your bank: if you're still not receiving the verification, your bank may have blocked the transaction or have 3DS disabled on your account. They can resolve this directly.
Will I be charged if verification fails?
No. If 3DS verification is not completed successfully, the payment is not authorised and you will not be charged. No money is taken from your account.
Still having trouble?
If you've completed verification but your payment still isn't going through, contact our support team. We'll check our end and help troubleshoot, though in most cases the issue is something to resolve with your bank directly.
